Fullerton: Rollingsushivan, Thelimetruck, Piaggioonwheels, Morsels Bakery, Tropshaveice

It’s Friday and the start of the Memorial weekend. To kick off my weekend we were at the Best Buy Fullerton for the Too Fat, Too Furious truck gathering.

I started off at Rollingsushivan and picked up a tuna hand roll and a secret menu item, the poke tuna served in a cute champagne cup.

While waiting, I picked up a refreshing Mango Aloe Vera limeaid from the Lime Truck.
Meanwhile, Martin went to Piaggioonwheels and ordered off the menu: the tilapia steamed in foil with basil and zucchini.

For dessert, Martin got the Blueberry Cream Puff from Morsels Bakery truck, and I got the POG, Passionfruit, Orange, Guava from Tropical Shave Ice.

Memorial Day Weekend: OC Market Place

Free Admission, This weekend only with Food Trucks!

Irvine: Panfiniti

Another new OC truck has been launched and they had a soft opening in Irvine.
Panfiniti does paninis, flat bread, and sliders, some with an island twist.

Since it was a soft opening, I was not sure if the menu was set or, like many  new trucks, will change in the weeks to come.

We ordered the Hawaiian Steak Flatbread, theHerb Turkey panini, and the Sunburst Chicken slider. While waiting for our food, we sampled the Carne Asada panini and the POG juice.

Fullerton: Rollingsushivan, Bakery Truck

The Best Buy in Fullerton is getting busier each passing week. I’ve noticed that there are a lot of new food truck eaters who are discovering how delicious the trucks are.  There are also many “seasoned” foodies, the people who are smart enough to bring full size tables and tailgating in the parking lot to enjoy their dinner.

Tonight I went to Rolling sushi van and ordered the U Don, but forgot to take a photo. Chef Chris made another wonderful “secret menu” Salmon Cheek, which was worth the wait.

For dessert, we went to Morsels Bakery Truck where Martin picked up the  fresh Raspberry Cream Puff, and Karen & I ordered the Banana Cream dessert shot.

Fullerton: Swinging Kitchen, Dos chinos, & Chunknchip Booyah Eating Contest

The Chuckwagonstop in Fullerton has become another popular spot on Thursdays. Today was also the Chunknchip Booyah Eating contest.

While waiting for the contest, I had the Coconut Shrimp lettuce taco and the Pho-rench dip sandwich from Swinging kitchen. Martin had the Perfect Lettuce taco, also from Swinging kitchen, and the Oahu Shrimp taco and the new Irvine Chicken taco from Dos chinos.

Irvine: The Lime Truck, Barcelona on the Go

My sister Becky is my weekly guest blogger, reporting on food trucks from the Teller & Michelson lunch lot in Irvine, CA.

There’s a reason why you have to wait in line if you want to eat at The Lime Truck on Wednesdays.

Every week, they’re always thinking outside of the box with innovative items to tantalize our taste buds. The chicken marsala taco (chicken with tomatoes and mushrooms) was a creative take on an Italian dish we all know and love. There was also New England gnocchi, a unique fusion of New England style clam chowder with Italian gnocchi. Brilliant!

In contrast, if you aren’t feeling adventurous, you can’t get any more tried and true than Barcelona on the Go’s top sirloin tacos: Two tacos topped with fresh corn salsa.  Comforting and delicious!

Santa Ana: Ranchoagogo

The County of Orange was having a “Green Fair” in downtown Santa Ana and Rancho a Gogo was there with Crepes Bonaparte.

I was in a hurry, so I just picked up a pulled pork slider to go, and the guys thoughtfully wrapped my meal like a swan. Aww, thanks!

I thought only fancy restaurants wrap your to go orders like this?
Pulled pork sliders (without the slaw)
yes, That’s one order!
