May 22: San Diego, Touch A Truck

Touch A Truck San Diego 2016

Max’s Ring of Fire – Touch A Truck San Diego

Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM (PDT)

The most anticipated family-friendly, fundraising festival of the year is revving its engine! Mark your calendar for Sunday, May 22 (10:00am-2:00pm) and roll out to Canyon Crest Academy in Carmel Valley for an incredible day benefiting toddlers, kids and teens in their fight against cancer.

Haven’t been to Touch A Truck yet? Here’s the deal… You’ll find military and emergency response vehicles, race cars, motorcycles and off-road trucks, construction vehicles of all types, classic cars and trash trucks… even a stage coach and helicopter. This kid-friendly, gearhead extravaganza is a hit with kids of all ages because all of these vehicles are open for you to climb in the drivers seat, honk the horn and meet the men and women who drive them everyday. You’ll also rub elbows with a host of Star Wars characters, play games, enter a raffle, hula hoop to live music from local bands, eat lunch from a food truck (of course!), play laser tag, drink lemonade and go on a scavenger hunt. Yeah… all that!

This year Touch A Truck will limit attendance making this a truly exclusive experience: less people = shorter lines = more time to see, do and explore!

Fundraise for Free Admission and Great Prizes

You have the opportunity to earn free admission and other cool stuff by opening a fundraising page. Your minimum goal of $100 gets you free admission for one child and one adult, with more great stuff as you reach further milestones. You’ll also help us spread awareness about kid’s cancer while you raise money. Buy your tickets here first, then you’ll be prompted to open a fundraising page on Crowdrise. If you have more than one kid, you should open a fundraising page for each one. It’ll all make sense once you get rolling – but we’ll be here to help!

Feb 15-21: Food trucks at the Northern Trust Open #MoreThanGolf

Popular LA food trucks roll to Northern Trust Open

PGA TOUR event continues to bring Angelenos #MoreThanGolf

LOS ANGELES – As fans get ready for one of the most anticipated outdoor sporting events in LA, they’d better come hungry!  Building on the wildly popular food offerings at the 2015 event, this year’s Northern Trust Open is featuring four of the most recognizable food trucks the city has to offer. Taking place February 15-21, the Northern Trust Open is offering attendees #MoreThanGolf through tastes of Wise Barbeque, Cousins Maine Lobster, The Grilled Cheese Truck and Baby’s Badass Burgers. The food trucks will be located in The Promenade featuring the Travis Mathews Tailgate at The Riviera Country Club, where fans can enjoy a variety of food, beverage and entertainment options.

New in 2016, the NutriBullet Food Truck will offer sweet treat options to fans when it makes its debut at the Northern Trust Open, to the players’ right of No. 13 fairway.  The NutriBullet Food Truck’s blended smoothies will add further variety to the tournament’s culinary experience.

“The food trucks at The Promenade were hopping at last year’s event, and we’re thrilled these popular staples of the LA food scene are back at the Northern Trust Open in 2016, as well as the addition of the NutriBullet Food Truck,” said Northern Trust Open Executive Director O.D. Vincent. “LA is known for its unique cuisine, so it’s only fitting that the city’s iconic golf event bring the best flavors of the surrounding area to its fans at The Riviera Country Club.  I’m confident we’ll have something for everyone, and the fan experience is going to be that much more memorable because of it.”

Food trucks featured at the event include:

Cousins Maine Lobster was built by two cousins from Maine. They talked about the burgeoning food truck industry that was taking over the LA food scene, bringing delicious, unconventional cuisines to the masses cheaply and efficiently. After surveying the landscape they realized that LA was missing those tasty Maine traditions they fawned over. They decided to pool their savings and launch a food truck that celebrated Maine and served the bounty of their state the only way they knew it: fresh.

Wise Barbecue Inc. brings the revered tradition of the Texas Smokehouse Meat Market to Los Angeles. From their pepper crusted Beef Brisket to their tender and delicious Spare Ribs you won’t find better Texas Style Barbecue in all of Los Angeles.

What started as a fun, weekend activity to enter the Cheesy Mac and Rib Melt into LA’s 7th Annual Grilled Cheese Invitational quickly became the idea behind The Grilled Cheese Truck. After seeing the masses of grilled cheese fanatics gathered to pay homage to everyone’s favorite comfort food, the owners realized that this world needed more grilled cheese sandwiches brought to the streets. Not just the classic bread, butter and cheese, but amazing creations that are constructed with the best ingredients, local produce and made with nothing but love.

Baby’s Badass Burgers sprang from the imaginations and experiences of ex-New Yorker restaurateur Erica Cohen and celebrated event planner Lori Barbera. Together, the dynamic duo of Cohen and Barbera originated the Baby’s Badass Burger concept, design and branding, and developed and refined the menu with Executive Chef Jason Ryczek. So the next time you see a glimpse of a hot pink flash rolling by you (or get a Twitter update) — it just might be Baby’s Badass Burgers coming to a street near you.

The Northern Trust Open, one of the longest-running events on the PGA TOUR, will once again include a variety of expanded elements, creating the perfect, complete LA entertainment experience. An upscale, open-air lounge –The Green Room – will return after a successful debut in 2015 as the destination for those looking for an exclusive party. Perched between the iconic 10th hole and the driving range, the venue offers dramatic views of the historic Riviera Country Club surrounded by eucalyptus trees. Guests will sip on cocktails and enjoy LA-centric flavors. And on Saturday for the complimentary English Beat concert after play, The Green Room guests will have the best seat in the house, as the venue is transformed into a backstage setting.

For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.northerntrustopen.com. Follow the Northern Trust Open on Facebook (facebook.com/NorthernTrustOpen) and Twitter (twitter.com/ntrustopen) to stay on top of all the news and updates; and join the conversation by using #MoreThanGolf.

About the Northern Trust Open

What started as the Los Angeles Open in 1926 at Los Angeles Country Club, the Northern Trust Open is now one of the longest-running tournaments on the PGA TOUR, being played for the 90th time this year. It was staged at various courses throughout the Los Angeles area before permanently settling at Riviera Country Club in 1973. Outside of the major championships, the Northern Trust Open is the fourth-oldest event on TOUR, trailing only the BMW Championship, the RBC Canadian Open and the Valero Texas Open.

City of Hope was named the official charity of the Northern Trust Open beginning with the 2013 event.  In 2015, the Northern Trust Open generated over $2 million to benefit City of Hope, the event’s official charity partner, and other non-profit organizations in the Los Angeles area. The total generated for Los Angeles charities since the event’s inception in 1926 is now more than $60 million.

Fans are reminded that each year, youths 18 and younger are admitted free of charge to the Northern Trust Open when accompanied by a ticketed adult.  There is no limit to the number of youths 18 and younger who can attend with a ticketed adult. Also, as part of its support for the Birdies for the Brave military outreach initiative, complimentary grounds admission tickets for active duty, Reserve, military retirees, non-retired veterans and dependents to the Northern Trust Open are available from Wednesday through Sunday of tournament week.
