Anaheim: Slapfishtruck

My friend Karen and I were heading out of town and decided to stop at Noble Ale Works for dinner with Slapfishtruck.

Last night I tried half of the menu, and today I ordered the Lobsticle (again), the “just because we have to” fish taco, the shrimp pops, and the oysters.

Costa Mesa: Piaggioonwheels, Doschinos, Tropshaveice

Today I took a newbie to the OC Fair to try an Orange County food truck. I started him off at Piaggio on wheels where we selected the Pulled Pork over chimichurri rice, the Skirt Steak over fries, and the chicken & caprese empanadas.

Then I took him to Dos chinos and picked up the Oahu Shrimp taco and the Bolsa Pork Bellies taco.

For dessert we went to Tropshaveice, and he got a snow capped shave ice.

NEW YORK – May 4, 2011 – Food Network, the leader in food and lifestyle entertainment, announce the start of production for the second season of the hit primetime series, The Great Food Truck Race with Chef Tyler Florence returning as host. The show is set to premiere on Sunday, August 14th at 10pm ET/PT after the Food Network Star finale, with all subsequent episodes through September 25th airing Sundays at 9pm ET/PT.

In season two, eight celebrated and diverse food trucks from around the country embark on a coast-to-coast culinary road trip through cities including Santa Monica, Calif.; Las Vegas; Salt Lake City; Denver; Manhattan, Kan.; Memphis, Tenn., Atlanta, and Miami. Each week, the trucks roll into a new city and compete in dynamic challenges – often battling tough conditions including weather problems, location mishaps, food sourcing issues, and ever-changing customer taste buds. In the end, it’s all about which truck can sell the most food and race to the next episode while the losing team is sent home. Guest judges join host Tyler Florence in each episode and the last truck standing wins $100,000.

The Great Food Truck Race is produced by RelativityREAL, LLC.

Signal Hill: Global Soul, No Jodas

Got Foodtrucks? started a new food truck gathering at the Best Buy Signal Hill.
It was our first time trying No Jodas and we picked the Tazones, which were bowls filled with rice, black beans, sweet onions, topped with meat and maduros (sweet plaintains). Martin picked the chicken and I picked the steak.

We also went to Global Soul and ordered their signature Shrimp Toastie, which was 4 jumbo grilled shrimps on top of toast with a special sauce.
