Tonight (thanks to Saturday Night Foodies) there were 20 trucks at the Verizonwireless Amphitheater raising money and food for the Second Harvest Food Bank.
I wanted to try all the trucks but narrowed it to Piaggio’s osso bucco, Shortstop bbq’s turkey sandwich in a cranberry bbq sauce, Dos Chinos’ pork bellies taco, and dessert from Morsels Bakery truck.
Martin went to Lime Truck and got the steak taco with mango salsa and an order of the japanese chilies.

update: the event raised 4000 lb of food + $5000 from the silent auction!
In conjunction with 19 gourmet food trucks and other leading food bloggers, Saturday Night Foodies will host a special food truck event Wednesday, Nov. 17, from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m., in the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater parking lot (8808 Irvine Center Drive, Irvine, CA).
This special Drive Out Hunger event will leverage OC DinDin-A-GoGo, a weekly gourmet food truck event managed by the Tropical Shave Ice Truck. For those that have experienced a DinDin-A-GoGo event, think OC DinDin on steroids! We really encourage everyone to bring folding tables, chairs and blankets.
Celebrities helping to bring awareness to the hunger crisis in Orange County will be on hand to take pictures and sign autographs for a donation of 10 non-perishable canned or dry good items, per person. There will also be a silent auction, and participants will have the opportunity to bid on Lakers and Lady Gaga tickets, vacations, and autographed art, to name just a few.

This week a truck “new” to the OC came to Los Al, the Yalla truck. They are a vegetarian truck specializing in falafel, which is made of chickpeas.
Martin had one of their pitas and Karen had their appetizers, which I took a rare photo of the menu description.
I had fries and Chef Jennifer’s coffee creme brulee from Barcelona onthego, while my nephew had the Chilaquiles, also from Barcelona onthego.

Piaggio, Chunk n Chip, Kona Ice and Dos Chinos (arrived late) were at Jack’s Surf in Huntington Beach. I forgot how much cooler it was by the beach as I ate my pulled pork over chimi rice. Martin had 2 chicken tacos from Piaggio (not pictured) and a mint booyah from Chunk n Chip.

My apologies for this delayed post. Having an extra 2 days off messed up my schedule. Ok, not true, but that is my weak excuse.
It’s nice we can have a place to go on Sundays. The line up at this week’s OC GREAT PARK was Louks, Piaggio, Barcelona, Chompchomp, Crepes, Dogzilla, Tropical Shave Ice, and coffee truck Kidbeanz.
Piaggio had a filet mignon sandwich that I had converted into a rice & asparagus plate. Karen got her favorite: a banana, strawberry & nutella crepe from Crepe Bonaparte, and we also picked up a tofu satay at Chompchomp (not pictured).
For dessert, we always save room for Shave Ice (shocking, I know), and on our way out we picked up a macchiato and a mocha from Kidbeanz. I didn’t post a photo of the coffees… apologies.

The Veterans Day continued at the Carson kmart, and then a new truck gathering at the Torrance kmart.
The Carson location had resident trucks Tropical Shave Ice & Lomo Arigato with Dumpling Station, Taco Surfer, White Rabbit, Mambo, Buttermilk, Ludo and the octopus one.
Buttermilk took too long to open, and Rabbit’s menu was half missing. Karen & I split an order of stream pork & leek, pork & veg dumplings, before taking off to Torrance.
Torrance had famous Nom Nom truck, Ragin Cajun, Greasy Weiner, Calbi, Morsels Bakery, Mighty Boba, Chunk n Chip, and Baja.
Martin got the combo from Ragin Cajun (not pictured), and I got a chili dog from the Greasy Weiner and a boba drink (not pictured).

Today is Veterans Day, a day to remember our fallen military soldiers, and commemorate our current soldiers and past veterans.
Karen and I went to the OC Fair for lunch. She went to Crepes while I got the chicken and tofu satay from Chompchomp Nation. I was also awarded a tank top for bring “fan of the week”
I also had a sausage sandwich from Barcelona onthego, cream puff from Morsels and a Tropical Shave Ice (not pictured).
