After dining al fresco in Santa Ana, we made our way to Fullerton to end our evening with Tropical Shave Ice. When we arrived, the line was very long… but worth the time!

After we ate our food from the Abbot-Kinney Street fest, we noticed the Morsel’s Bakery Truck was at the “Guns and Hoses” fundraiser at the Irvine Auto Square. We hopped on the 405 freeway and made our way south.
The event was breaking up, so we took our Strawberry & Banana cream puff to go. We found a Starbucks in Lake Forest and enjoyed our dessert with a glass of iced tea.

My parents came over for dinner, and afterwards we went to get dessert at Oh For Sweets Sake.

I was thinking about dinner when I received a “direct message” tweet from Oh For Sweets Sake, telling me that they made me a special bundt cake. They were going to be in downtown Santa Ana on 3rd & Sycamore, about 3 blocks from my work. I also found out that Dos Chinos was (still) there, as well as Calbi BBQ and SeaBirds.
Those trucks didn’t tempt me but when Piaggio on Wheels posted THEY were going to be there, I decided dinner with Piaggio…

I woke up late and ended up eating at a (gasp!) restaurant for lunch. Ok, it wasn’t even a real restaurant but Panera, a bakery/cafe type place. I got a cup of mac and cheese and a green salad, and that cost me $7.99+tax. For the same price, I could get a steak over chimi rice and side zuchinni at Piaggio on Wheels, or my pork bellies with rice and fries at Dos Chinos. Geez!
While eating, I noticed Tropical Shave Ice was at a school in Irvine doing a fundraiser until 3:00. It was about 2:00 when we sped down from Fullerton to Irvine. Lucky for us, we caught up with them before they left.

It looks like the Gourmet Trucks are working together as a family, rather than acting like some cut throat opponent. Today for lunch, Barcelona on the Go, Dan Dan BBQ truck, Oh For Sweets Sakes were at the Irvine Auto Center (at the Nissan dealership) and teamed up with Kona Ice and SeaBird Truck.
I went with my coworkers Anna and Katie (my usual lunch buddies) to enjoy some California sunshine and food.

Today was the first time in weeks its been in the 70’s… but not too cold to have shaved ice!
I went to Tropical Shave Ice after my hair appointment. Rather than post a picture of the same shaved ice as before (I sort of order the same one… vanilla… sweet red bean… condensed milk.. yawn, I know) here is a picture of me, with the shave ice, and the truck!

I thought this was going to be a quiet evening until I looked at twitter (darn twitter!) and saw that a few trucks were in downtown Santa Ana tonight. I quickly changed out of my pajamas (don’t laugh, it was only 7pm) and drove down with my friend Karen.
Martin got a crepe from Crepes Bonaparte, Karen and I got shave ice, and then we went to the Oh For Sweets Sakes for a 6-pack of cupcakes.
