Santa ana: Gourmet on the Go, United Way Event

sponsored by Crepes Bonaparte

After months of planning, my Gourmet On The Go event finally became a reality!

Piaggio on Wheels, Crepes Bonaparte, Dos Chinos, Tropical Shave Ice and Oh For Sweets Sake came to serve the people, and OC PARKS made it all possible by helping me with the local permits and venue.

Piaggio had his Milanesa Caballo and Egg over fries, and the Asparagus quesadilla as his main specials, and Dos Chinos wowed the crowd with the carne over garlic fries.

Oh for Sweets Sake sold out within an hour (didn’t even get a photo!), and Crepes had a line a mile long. Even Tropical Shave Ice ran out of cups and spoons at the end of the event.

Three people tried out for the Nutella eating contest, and it took about 15 minutes for the winner to finish the 20 oz jar.  Great event… Thank you to the foodies and GFTS!

Costa mesa: Burnt Truck, Morsels Bakery Truck

(left to right) Fried chicken, Bologna, and Beef Dip sliders
Tater Tots
Original Cream Puff

The Thursday gathering at the OC Fair has been positively received. Having the Farmers Market adjacent also makes it nice for the public, where they can get fresh produce and a fresh gourmet lunch.

The Burnt Truck had bologna sliders as the Chef Special. Pairing it with tater tots made it nostalgic. I also added the Fried Chicken and Beef Dip sliders. To complete my lunch, I had the Cream Puff from Morsels Bakery Truck.

In true tailgate fashion, guests are encouraged to bring their own seating to enjoy lunch with fellow food truck followers & Angels fans. Admission and parking are free to the public.

Irvine: Piaggio, Shortstop Bbq

Brown butter chicken with herbs over butternut squash mashed potatoes
Skirt steak tacos and empendas

beignets from Shortstop BBQ

There are good and bad points about the Ducks when they are on the road. The good part is it is possible to dine at the food trucks. The bad part is watching the game on Tivo time, and knowing the results before getting home.

The Ducks are in Columbus today, and the game started at 4: 00. By the time I pulled into the Irvine Bowl, the Ducks were down 2-0.

Piaggio had a special browned butter chicken over mashed butternut squash. Martin wanted skirt steak tacos, and Karen wanted empenadas. For dessert, I picked up some beignets from Shortstop Bbq.

This evening was wet, cold and rainy. It was also the debut of the Tuesday night Los Alamitos DinDin a Go-Go. The weather did not keep the regulars from getting dinner… Or dessert!

I went to Vizzi truck (who is also a hockey fan) for a serving of their special Spaghetti Carbonara.

Martin went to Lime Truck who were giving out bacon and oreo rice crispy treats. In addition, he got the Fried Chicken Oysters and the Pulled Chicken Sliders.

For dessert, we all got our Tropical Shave Ice!

Costa Mesa: Barcelona onthego

Jamon y Melon over baby greens

Bacon wrapped dates
Huevos y papas
Churros y chocolate

Hurley clothing company was having their Family & Friends sale and invited Shortstop, Barcelona, and Longboards ice cream.

I woke up with a massive headache (still have one) so my appetite was not quite there, and all I wanted was a light lunch.

I had the jamon y melon over baby greens with an order of bacon wrapped dates. Martin had the huevos y papas (egg & fries). For dessert, Barcelona treated us to warm churros drizzled in chocolate, to celebrate 1000 followers on facebook.
