Thursdays: Hatchi Truck Stop at Breadbar, Century City

NEW “HATCHI” SERIES PARKS AT BREADBAR | CENTURY CITY STARTING MARCH 31!

The “Hatchi Truck Stop” Event Features Premier Food Truck Chefs Preparing Inspired Dishes the Last Thursday of Every Month

Beginning Thursday, March 31, from 6-10 p.m., and continuing the last Thursday of every month, BREADBAR, along with Chef Noriyuki Sugie, host “Hatchi Truck Stop” at BREADBAR | Century City. Inspired by the popular Hatchi guest chef series, the “truck stop” will feature a different premier Los Angeles food truck each month, offering diners a one-night-only meal of eight inspired small plates priced at $8 each ($32 minimum purchase per guest).

The first guest “gastrotruck” in the series is none other than Food Network’s “The Great Food Truck Race” winner, Grill ‘Em All. Helmed by Chefs Ryan Harkins and Mathew Chernus, who have been allies and band mates for over 20 years, Grill ‘Em All is known for its rock ‘n’ roll attitude backed by a menu featuring awe-inspiring burgers and other delicious comfort foods.

Among the heavy-metal inspired cuisine they will be serving March 31 are Molson Beer and Cheese Soup with Frisée, Lardons, and a Bacon Vinaigrette; “Behemoth Style” Meatballs with BBQ Sauce, Bacon, Smoked Cheddar, and Funyuns Onion Flavored Rings; Duck Confit Poutine with Wisconsin Cheese Curds and Rosemary; Foie Gras and Fig-Stuffed Pierogi with White Truffle Crème Fraîche; and Peanut Butter and Jelly Three Ways-Canapé, Ravioli, and Shot.

To pair with the dishes, Humboldt County’s Lost Coast Brewery will be serving its signature microbrews, which meld traditional English-style ales with the distinctive West Coast flavors of barley, wheat, and Northern California’s exceptionally pure water.

Building on his mission to continually re-imagine the pop-up dining movement in Los Angeles, Sugie will also oversee the invitation of future guest food truck chefs to progressively develop the new series. For more information, call BREADBAR | Century City at 310.277.3770.http://www.breadbar.net/

March 19-20: Food Truck Festival in Redondo Beach

Harbor hosts food truck festival

food truck

A festival of food trucks will arrive in King Harbor this weekend.
If you build it, they will come. If you tear it down, they will still come.
The site of several former restaurants in King Harbor – most recently Valencia – will host a festival of food trucks over four upcoming weekends prior to its demolition later this spring as the future home of the boutique Shade Hotel.
The Food Truck Fest and FUNdraiser, organized by former Hermosa Councilman (and current Barbie Q food truck operator) John Bowler, with Shade owner Mike Zislis, will feature a variety of cuisines and benefit the Redondo Union High School Associated Student Body.
Bowler said Zislis wanted to find a way to give back to the community while utilizing the currently vacant site.
“Mike has got a lot of class and understands community,” Bowler said. “This all dovetails nicely as a win-win all the way around – the schools get some money and the community gets food trucks, which is a bit of a rarity in the South Bay.”
Bowler said there will be off street parking available. “Plus everyone bikes and skates and walks and staggers in that area,” he said. “One of the great things in the South Bay is everything you need is within staggering distance…It’s one of the signs of an enlightened community.”
Hours are 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. the weekends of Feb. 12 and 13, Feb. 19 and 20, March 19 and 20, and April 2 and 3.
Trucks featured include Barbie’s Q, Rosa’s Bella Cocina, No Reservations Catering, Kabob and Roll, Tasty Meat, India Jones, Fishlips, Shrimp Pimp, Bera’s Custom Cheese Steaks, Cool Haus, Babie’s Bad Ass Burgers, and Hungry Nomad. ER
