Los Alamitos: Rolling Sushi, The Lime truck, Piaggio on Wheels, Morsels Bakery, Tropical Shave Ice

Its been a while since I’ve been to a food truck for dinner, and with a bunch of other friends.

At Rolling Sushi, we picked up the Sashimi Salad, the Spicy Tuna Chips, and the Lobster Taco.

At the Lime Truck I ordered the Ahi Poke Tuna, the New England Gnocchi, (Martin’s favorite) Blistered Shishito Peppers, and… what else, a Pineapple Lime Aid.

Martin went to Piaggio on wheels and ordered the Pulled Pork tacos, and from Morsels Bakery Truck picked up the Raspberry Cupcake for dessert, while I went to Tropical Shave Ice and got my P.O.G: The Passionfruit, Orange, Guava!

Cerritos: Dim Sum Truck

There’s a new food gathering on Wednesday nights at the Cerritos Best Buy. This is about as close to the border the Orange County foodies will get to try LA trucks.

Today I just had Dim Sum truck’s “lunch box” consisting of Shu Mai (pork & shrimp dumplings), Ha Gow (shrimp dumplings), Sticky Rice (meat & vegetables steamed inside rice wrapped in a lotus leaf), steamed barbecue pork bun, and a sesame ball (sweet lotus paste inside a pastry ball rolled in sesame seeds).

The only thing I was missing was… a pot of hot tea.

Anaheim: Slapfishtruck

My friend Karen and I were heading out of town and decided to stop at Noble Ale Works for dinner with Slapfishtruck.

Last night I tried half of the menu, and today I ordered the Lobsticle (again), the “just because we have to” fish taco, the shrimp pops, and the oysters.

New truck, Slapfishtruck made their debut today in Los Alamitos. They will also be at Noble Ale Works in Anaheim tomorrow at 5: 00 pm.

We tried the Lobsticle, Tower of Tuna, Major Crunchy (grilled bream fish topped with crunchy chips), and the raspberry limeaid.

We also stopped at Swinging Kitchen, and picked up the Sirloin Lettuce wrap and the Perfect Tofu Lettuce wrap, and the Banana Split S’mores.

Anaheim: Piaggioonwheels, Chompchomptruck

It’s game 5 for the Western Conference Quarter Final Playoffs (round one) and Noble Ale Works invited Piaggioonwheels and Chompchomptruck to feed the Ducks (and Angels) fans before the game.
I ordered off the menu and ordered grilled tilapia over chimi rice. Karen ordered the special, Brasilian Fish Cakes, while Martin went to Chompchomptruck for his Kaya Coconut French Toast.

Irvine: Swinging Kitchen, Piaggio on Wheels

A popular Wednesday night spot is the Irvine Lanes, better known as “OC Dindinagogo”. Martin was meeting up with friends, so he grabbed some food to go, and didn’t let me take any photos.

I stayed behind to chat with other foodies, and to try the Tofu Lettuce Wrap and the Pork  Bellies Lettuce Wrap from Swinging Kitchen. I also went to Piaggioonwheels and ordered an Argentine steak taco and a Caprese empanada.

Los Alamitos: Shortstopbbq

I remember when this food truck gathering was the hidden gem of Tuesday nights. Looks like the secret is out, and even local fire & law enforcement have come to support Los Al DinDinagogo.

I stopped at Shortstopbbq and ordered a modified Holiday Frites, which is fries topped with smoked turkey covered in a honey bbq sauce and topped with a dollop of creamed corn, instead of the usual cheese.

Martin ordered a half-n-half, which is also not on the menu. It’s a half of the tri tip and half of the pulled pork sandwich.
