Santa Ana: Ranchoagogo

The County of Orange was having a “Green Fair” in downtown Santa Ana and Rancho a Gogo was there with Crepes Bonaparte.

I was in a hurry, so I just picked up a pulled pork slider to go, and the guys thoughtfully wrapped my meal like a swan. Aww, thanks!

I thought only fancy restaurants wrap your to go orders like this?

yes, That’s one order!

There’s food trucks invited at the Orange County Employees Association every other month.
I  went to Rolling Sushi Van with Martin and Karen and we ordered the Tuna Hand Roll, the Chirashi Bowl (sashimi over rice), and California Tuna roll.

The Food truck Friday was at OCEA and Dos Chinos, Crepes Bonaparte, Shortstop Bbq and Tropical Shave Ice were there. Baconmania broke down and was unable to make it.

Anytime there is an event that I am the coordinator, I get butterflies, so I don’t really have much of an appetite.  I just snacked on a Butter & Sugar Crepe, and a small Shave Ice.

The event was a success, and I hope everyone had a great time.

rain or shine…. with covered eating area!

There’s a new Friday Lunch lot in Santa Ana?? Can someone confirm?

I came across this  but I am not sure who is the host or “resident” truck.
Last week Crepes Bonaparte tweeted this location, and this week ChompChompTruck tweeted it.  I’ve tweeted and posted on facebook if someone can confirm if this is a new weekly lot, but no one has responded.

Anyhoo, here’s the information.  Its right off the 5 freeway, and if you know where the scuba building is, it looks like its near that building.

The addresss tweeted is East 1st St  and Cabrillo Park Drive in Santa Ana,Ca

Santa ana: Alebrijes Grill taco truck

There’s a pink taco truck near my office on Main & Cubbon Street. The last time I went to Alebrijes, my tacos with nopales (cactus) inside.

Today I received naked ones. Ok not naked but,  well, “normal” chicken, lengua & steak street tacos. Still tasty but just so… naked without nopales.

The view of the truck as I drove away

I was doing errands at lunch and as I was coming back from the post office I noticed a street sign that said “Cubbon”. A light went off and I remembered reading a review in OC Weekly about a pink mexican taco truck.

Turning into the street I spotted the truck. I must have been lucky because the streets were quiet, and I was the only customer.

I played it safe and ordered 2 tacos, carne asada (grilled steak) and lengua (tongue) sans onions. Since I was on my lunch break, I took the food back to work.

I know I don’t talk about the food, but I must say I was pleasantly surprised to see slices of nopales (grilled cactus) inside my tacos.
