Fullerton: Baconmania, Shortstop BBQ, Oc Food Truck, Bakery truck

Tonight there was a food gathering at the Best Buy in Fullerton hosted by Truck Squad, with the help of Got Food Trucks.

At Baconmania, I tried the Cheese and Bacon chips, and Karen ordered the “Mom’s meatloaf” topped with mashed potatoes and an order of fries. I also ordered my favorite comfort food, the Smoked turkey over creamed corn from the Shortstopbbq truck. Yah, the picture comes out bland, but it’s still one of my favorite dish.

Meanwhile, Martin gets the When Pigs Fry sandwich from the OC Food Truck, slightly modified. It’s a  tempura bacon and avocado sandwich normally with squaw bread, but the truck ran out of the bread and subbed it with sour dough.

We ended this stop with dessert from Bakery Truck, a  lemon raspberry cupcake and a strawberry banana shot.

Now… Off to Noble Ale Works in search of SUSHI!

Brea: Piaggio

I was heading to get a massage when I saw that Piaggio was serving lunch off Imperial & Brea Blvd. What luck! I had a craving for the chimi fries & steak.

Tue 2/8: #BowlingBlowout at Lake Forest with 12 Food Trucks!

Irvine: Piaggio on Wheels

It’s wonderful to be back in Orange County! Today’s weather is supposed to be in the 80’s, and I’m wearing a t-shirt, jeans  and flip flops.

Karen and I took today off from work to recuperate from the trip. For lunch we drove to Irvine for Piaggio, who was parked on Discovery near the Spectrum.

Karen had her usual two empenadas, chimi rice & zucchini. I had the skirt steak taco with chimi sauce,  caprese empenada, with rice & veg, and two pulled pork sliders.  Its great to be back home!!

Sunny… with no chance of snow!

Anaheim: Spudrunners at Noble ale works

Tri Tip chili
The Alpha Red beer
The photo came out blurry… I’m not drunk
Potato soup with cheese, bacon, sour cream
Comfort food: Good old grilled cheese sandwich
Cheesy toast (came with the chili and soup)

It’s hard to grab dinner before a Ducks game, and the food at Honda Center is expensive and gross.  Tonight Spudrunners was going to be at Noblealeworks, which is just around the corner from “the Pond”.

Martin had the tri tip chili, which he paired with The Alpha Red beer, the perfect combo for a cold, windy night.

Karen and I had the Potato soup topped with bacon, cheese & sour cream, and we split a good ol grilled cheese sandwich. The soup & chili came with cheese toast as well.

Apologies for the poor photo quality. My Droid is on the fritz, and my replacement phone is stuck in Texas (due to the cold weather).  I hope that you will still find the food appetizing.

Westminster: Rolling sushi van

Crunchy roll & a Tuna hand roll
Thank you Rolling Sushi for the Green tea!

The 2011 NHL All Star game was at Raleigh, NC so I had dim sum take out to snack on while we watched the game on tv.

After the game, I was in the mood for udon and Rollingsushivan was in Westminster. Unfortunately, when we got there, we were told no udon.

I ended up getting miso soup, a Tempura Crunchy roll, and a Tuna roll. Also, Rollingsushivan was nice to warm me up with a cup of green tea.

Anaheim: Crepes Bonaparte

On the way home from Santa Anita, we made a pit stop to Noble Ale Works who was debuting their new beer, Nobility.

There were wall to wall people, so Martin got dessert at Crepes Bonaparte. (Notice the new way they are packaging the Crepes?)

Los Alamitos: Spudrunners, Short Stop Bbq, The Lime Truck, Tropshaveice

New OC Truck! Spudrunners

Santa Fe Spud from Spudrunner
Grilled Brie from Spudrunner
Risotto & Prime Pork from The Lime Truck
Frites (fries) with smoked turkey and creamed corn
from ShortstopBBQ
Ahi Tuna taco from the Lime Truck
Chicken taco from the Lime Truck
Sun or Rain, Hot or Cold… there’s always room for a Tropical Shave Ice
Shaka bra!

A new truck rolled onto Los Alamitos called Spudrunners. They do (obviously) potatoes, but also grilled cheese and soup. The line for the new truck was super long, but I managed to get a picture of the Santa fe Spud and the Grilled Brie.

I went truck hopping from The Lime Truck, where I got the Risotto & Prime Pork, then picked up the Smoked turkey & creamed corn over frittes.

Martin picked the Ahi Tuna taco & the Fesenjan Chicken taco from the Lime Truck, and a “natural” (naked) hotdog from the Tacodawg, not pictured.

For dessert, where else? Tropshaveice
