FRIDAY, JUNE 7, 5-10 P.M. – FROM CITY HALL TO GRAND PARK On June 7, join emcees Emmy Award-winner Bruce Vilanch and KJLH morning talk show host Dominique DiPrima for an extraordinary event to mark the culmination of the City’s Annual Heritage Months.
CelebrateLA! is a free, family-friendly street festival to honor the City’s diversity, creativity, and innovative spirit through a wide range of activities and performances including music, art, and food.

Former President Bill Clinton will pay tribute to Mayor Villaraigosa, allowing an opportunity for Angelenos to bid farewell to him and welcome the incoming Mayor, Eric Garcetti.
WHAT: CelebrateLA! features a wide range of entertainment and activities reflecting the culture and diversity of Los Angeles, including live music, performances, food trucks, free nachos, celebrity chef cooking demonstrations, and interactive workshops and games.
The main stage will showcase performances by Grammy-winning artist Pepe Aguilar, the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, and Seville, as well as highlights from the City’s Heritage Month Celebrations, including the Plaza de la Raza Mariachis, A Place Called Home Jazz Ensemble, Sangeet Shplang Ensemble, and the United American Indian Involvement Pow Wow Style Drumming. Plus a special appearance by Plácido Domingo, who will be performing an evening of Zarzuela and Latin American Music at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Friday, June 7.

The collaborative event includes the opportunity to make a hemp pillow cover while in the store. Pre-cut, pre-silk screened and ready-to-sew hemp fabric will be provided in a choice of beautiful Japanese crests and colors. No sewing knowledge required. Sewing machines and an experienced crew will be on hand. Discover the beauty of this natural fabric by sewing your own and taking it home.
Also this month Cuban Art Exhibit “Made in Havana” with works by: Yaima Gonzalez Cabrera & Jose Antonio Hechavarria Rivas will have their artists reception at Rivero Studio Gallery, 414 6th Street, at 6:00 p.m.
The free one hour First Thursday Artwalk tour will feature exhibits by local and visiting artists. The diversity of art created and displayed in San Pedro will be on show, and participants will meet most of the artists. Each month a different itinerary is planned. The free one hour guided tour leaves the Chamber of Commerce at 6:30 p.m.
Park free after 6:00 p.m. downtown, and always free at Ports O’ Call near the San Pedro Art Association (open First Thursday), Berth 77, just north of the Ports O’ Call Restaurant. The Red Car Trolley will pick you up there, and take you to (and from) downtown San Pedro. It runs from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m.
SPECIAL NOTE: In order to honor the 4th of July national holiday, there will be no tour offered on First Thursday in July. Be sure to mark your calendars for August 1st First Thursday. San Pedro will be kicking off the celebration of its 125th Anniversary!

New Parking for First Thursday: The San Pedro Historic Waterfront Distict has negotiated the use of the parking structure located at 222 W. 6th Street for First Thursday parking through March of 2014. Parking is $3.00 per vehicle (flat rate) and is available from 5:00 PM – midnight. The entrance to the structure is on Centre Street, between 5th & 6th Streets. Also you can park free after at Ports O’ Call near the San Pedro Art Association (open First Thursday), Berth 77, just north of the Ports O’Call Restaurant. The Red Car Trolley will pick you up there, and take you to (and from) downtown San Pedro. The Red Car Trolley runs from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. on 1st Thursday
