About me

In the 1980's, my first job was working in a food container company in Commerce.  I lived off those "roach coaches" because they were inexpensive.

In the 90's, my ex would take me to downtown LA for the mexican tacos (yes, I'm a cheap date) and should have known that dining a la truck would be my calling....

In May, 2009, I was watching the news and this new "food truck" called KogiBBQ was using a new social network called "Twitter" to reach out to his audience about the location on where his trucks "verde" and "roja" will be on various nights. People were flocking from all over town for a bite, and lines were as long as 2 hours!

One night, while at the Ahmanson Theatre, I got a tweet at 9:30 pm the Kogi truck was around the corner.  I begged my husband to take a look, and sure enough in a dark, dank, smell of pee street was a truck parked in front of a scummy bar.  THIS was Kogi?  We waited about half an hour (which was considered "fast") for their messy, famous rib tacos. I was hooked on this Gourmet Truck food.

So, I continue to follow them on Twitter... hoping the trucks would venture to the South... to the OC. One day, my prayer was answered. I noticed Kogi were sneaking closer to Orange County by pulling into a border city (La Mirada/ Santa Fe Springs). Unfortunately they were still getting chased by the local police, so they had to tweet their location just minutes before arrival.

So to sum it up, my culinary adventure started in the 80's, but my love for "the" Gourmet trucks began in 2009 with one famous truck. I started blogging in 2010 as a way to organize myself on where to eat. I'm guessing my followers also like finding out where to find a truck as well.

Enjoy using this blog, seeing the food pictures, and I hope you will venture out on your own to try some of Southern California's "finer" mobile foods!
