Los Alamitos: The Lime Truck, Sugar Babies, Tropical Shave Ice

Martin is on a retreat so I met up with Linda and Karen at the Los Al Din Din a Go Go.

The Lime Truck had Crispy Pork Bellies Lettuce Wrap, so I paired up an order with the Guava Lemon Aloe agua fresca, and dessert from Tropical Shave Ice.

Linda also picked up the lettuce wrap and the Jumbo Lump Crab Potato Skins.

Karen picked up empenadas from Piaggioonwheels (not pictured) and cupcakes from Sugar Babies.

Westminster: Piaggioonwheels & Dos Chinos

There’s not too many places to find a food truck on Monday. Piaggioonwheels, Dos Chinos & Louks was at Q’s Lounge and I met Martin there after work.

Martin had the skirt steak over chimi rice from Piaggio, and the Oahu taco from Dos Chinos.

I ordered the steamed tilapia from Piaggio, and the Bolsa taco from Dos Chinos.

For dessert we shared the churros from Piaggio.

Anaheim; Crepes Bonaparte, Chomp chomp truck, Rolling Sushi Van

The Noble Ale Works is just around the corner from the Honda Center. Tonight there were three trucks, so I met up with Martin, Karen and Linda before the Ducks game.

I wanted to try something different from Crepes, so I ordered the peanut butter/nutella crepe.

I split a tofu satay from Chomp Chomp with Karen, while Martin ordered the Singapore Sloppy Joe. Linda picked up the Lobster Roll from Rolling Sushi Van, and we all sampled their Udon with home made broth.

Lucky the Noble Ale is close to Honda Center! We missed pre skate, and had just enough time to spare.

A few food trucks were at the Newport/Balboa farmers market. We opted to come here instead of Great Park to try The Street Hawker, a Singapore truck serving satay, noodles and rice dishes.

Karen went to the Hawker and ordered the Hainan chicken & rice, Martin got the chicken satay.

I went to Shortstopbbq for their pork ribs & cream corn. Martin also ordered a tri-tip with bbq slaw & fries.

Costa mesa: Barcelona onthego, Piaggio, Morsels bakery truck

Potato Frittata (aka: Spanish Tortilla)
Argentine Steak Taco

Barcelona’s tri tip taco with corn salsa
Banana cream dessert shot

The weather forecast said 60% chance of rain, but it did not stop us from venturing out for food at the Soco Farmers Market.

My brunch was the Potato & sun dried tomato frittata (aka Spanish Tortilla) from Barcelona onthego, and a steak taco with chimichurri from Piaggio on Wheels. Martin had the steak tacos, from Barcelona but with a corn salsa. For dessert we had a banana cream shot from Morsels Bakery Truck.

Fullerton: Dos Chinos

Today was not my most healthiest day of eating. The Ducks lost the game, so I decided to get a late night snack of pork bellies over fries at Dos Chinos, who were at Bootlegger’s Brewery.

New posting format

I finally entered the 20th century and got myself a “smart” phone!

My “not-so-smart” phone was ok, but it wasn’t allowing me to post real time and with good quality pictures.  Well, the old photos were not bad at all.  I’m looking at the Long Beach Fest and for an old phone, the Nom Nom truck came out pretty good.

Now, I can now post from my new Droid, which will have the photos of the food first, and then a quick comment or description of the venue.  I think that format is better since you’re here to see the food, not read my babble, right??

I really am happy with the quality of the new pictures, and how detailed it is.  I hope you are enjoying it too!

OC DinDinAGoGo: K1 location= Cancelled!

Wow, the world of gourmet trucks have grown so fast, that we actually outgrew ourselves!  I found this tweet from Tropical Shave Ice that the OC DinDin a Go-Go got canceled.  We (the foodies) are not sure if it is due to the crowds or K1 got complaints from the property management, or we were not giving K1 customers a place to park.

Right now Tropical Shave Ice and Lomo Arigato are looking for a new place to call Wednesdays “home”, and that will involved a place that can accommodate lunch trucks, lots of foodies, and parking!  Good luck!

Gardena: Happy Cup Ramen

Driving back from Venice, we decided to stop at Gardena and see if the Happy Cup Ramen was still there.  We knew they were in front of the South Bay Toyota at 12:30, and took a chance. What we did not know was they close at 2:30, and reopen at 4:00.  We pulled up at 3:25 and found them parked… but not open for business.
